Databases constantly used in day-to-day life, whether you realise it or not. Databases keep track of bank accounts, serve webpages, store information and answer questions on daily basis. On this course you do not need any previous experience with databases, as our trainers cover the topics from first principles.
The course starts with an introduction to databases in general and how to design them from start. After learning the fundamentals, we go through how to install MySQL and how to create the database we designed. The course also takes a look at querying the database, and how to obtain information out of databases. A more technical session takes place covering how to define procedures to be stored in the database engine and invoked using SQL. You'll also explore database administration, including how to secure an installation, granting and revoking privileges, plus how to set-up server replication over several machines.
The course is taught using a series of presentations on topics, including group and individual exercises. By the end of the course, you'll be able to design and create a database, know how other users can access it and replication techniques to keep several copies of the database in-sync on different machines.
