F5 Networks - Configuring BIG-IP® Access Policy Manager™ (APM) V11

Overview

This course give network administrators and network engineers a function understanding of the BIG-IP® version 11 APM system as it is commonly deployed in either in an application delivery configuration (LTM + APM use case) or in a remote access setting. The course reviews basic LTM configurations and adds an access policy with authentication and client-side endpoint security to that configuration. It also reviews the three remote access methods supported by APM: Network Access (SSL VPN), Portal Access (reverse proxy) and Application Access (app tunnel).

Objectives

By course completion, the student should be able to perform an initial configuration of the BIG-IP® APM and Access Policies using the Visual Policy Editor Graphical User Interface. Additionally, the student should be able to monitor, administer, and perform basic troubleshooting tasks on traffic processed by the BIG-IP® APM System.

Audience

System and network administrators responsible for installation, setup, configuration, and administration of the BIG-IP APM System.

Prerequisites

  • Common Security and Network terminology
  • TCP/IP Addressing, Routing and Internetworking concepts
  • Security Authorization and Authentication concepts
  • Common elements of WAN and LAN environments

In addition, students should be proficient in:

  • Basic PC operation and application skills, including MS Windows
  • Basic Web browser operation (Internet Explorer is used in class).

The training provider requires all students to bring their own laptop (and power cable). A laptop with a 802.11 b/g wireless card and a Remote Desktop Client (available for Windows, OSX and Linux). Please advise your Account Manager as soon as possible should you not be able to meet these requirements.
