Overview

This hands-on four day course interweaves elements of theory, practice and evaluation to provide attendees with an interactive learning experience in Applying Business Architecture.The course is suited for those individuals looking to gain an understanding of: How to design business models to support strategy How to use tools such as capability based planning and business anchor models to develop a business architecture How to analyse business models and provide insight for stakeholders How to begin to plan for transition The roles of the business analyst and the business architect IIBA members are eligible to receive 30 PD Hours or CDUs once they have attend this course to go towards their certifications. Please note, students are required to bring their own laptop/tablet and power cable to the training.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the broader EA discipline and the role of business architecture within that discipline
  • Understand the structure of TOGAF and its value to the business architecture discipline
  • Articulate a problem definition concisely and completely
  • Explain how business architecture relates to other disciplines, organisation structures, career paths, the business architecture value proposition
  • Understand the different views to describe a business, how to decompose the problem space into a more formal structure and where influencers and drivers impact motivation
  • Develop a means to end chain and a business motivation model
  • Use a business model canvas to identify key activities and resources to support the business strategy
  • Use a strategy game board to identify what capabilities to focus on
  • Build a capability anchor model
  • Analyse the gap between current maturity and target maturity requirements
  • Re-prioritise where to invest your capital across your project portfolio
  • Explain how to apply stakeholder management technique
  • Consolidate your architecture into a single summarised roadmap view
  • Build combined views to represent a variety of different concerns

Prerequisites

There are no pre requisites for this course; however knowledge of business fundamentals and TOGAF are an advantage.
