Overview

In this course, students learn to support users running applications on Microsoft Windows XP operating systems. They learn about Desktop Support Technician duties, and resolve a variety of issues having to do with supporting and configuring applications.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: -
  • examine how to use troubleshooting guidelines and tools to support users running applications on Windows desktops.
  • examine the application installation process and basic application troubleshooting techniques.
  • support Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  • support Outlook Express.
  • support Microsoft Office.
  • support Microsoft Outlook.

Audience

This course is intended for people who have little or no job experience in the IT industry. Students should have experience working with Windows desktop operating systems and should be A+ certified, or have equivalent knowledge. This course is also intended for people currently working in the Tier 1 job role, and who wish to obtain their MCDST credential. It is likely these students will have the skills covered in this course, but lack the formal education required to pass the exams.
